A professional event of the Chamber of Architects looks, at first glance, less spectacular than the World Economic Forum or a security conference. The demands on the photography are exactly the same.
Since 2018 I have been documenting the Architects' Day of the Hessian Chamber of Architects on a recurring basis. The format is a mix of professional talks, awards and networking — a classic industry conference that, on the surface, is very different from the international gatherings I usually cover.
In practice, however, the demands are identical. The standard is always the same: deliver the best images, work within the agreed time, and turn the material around as quickly as possible so the client can use it for public relations, press releases, the annual report or member communications.
Whether in Davos, Munich or at a conference in Hesse — photographically it makes no difference to me. What turns the assignment into a specialisation is reliability over years: that the images from the Architects' Day arrive just as precisely, just as quickly and in just the right selection as on any premium assignment.
That is exactly why I have been there for eight years running.
