Andreas Henn
Corporate Photographer · Mannheim
Andreas Henn is a corporate photographer based in Mannheim, Germany, working since 2008 for the World Economic Forum (Davos), Munich Security Conference, BASF, Daimler Truck and Roche.
I deliver images that work. For communications and PR departments that rely on compelling visual content – whether for annual reports, press releases, social media or corporate websites. As a corporate and event photographer based in Mannheim, I have worked across Germany since 2008, with a focus on the Rhine-Neckar and Rhine-Main regions.
Background
My starting point was reportage. My graduation project at photography school in Munich took me to Kosovo in 2008 – then the youngest country in the world. For a few weeks, I portrayed the land and its people. The original plan of working editorially evolved over the years into corporate work – company reportages, events, portraits. What remained is the eye, and the sense that a picture should tell a story.
How I work
Every assignment begins before the first shot. Clothing and equipment are matched to the context, camera settings prepared so that the first images are ready while the event is still under way – for social media, short-notice press releases or ongoing communications, if needed.
Then comes the part that cannot be prepared: reading the room. When is it right to step forward – and when is it better to stay in the background. There are the must-have shots – at an event, the speaker at the podium, the panel discussion, the handshake; on a reportage, the portrait, the production hall, the detail at the workstation. In between, I try to find the images that cannot be ticked off a list. Moments that complete the story.
Curation is part of the job. I try to draw the strongest image out of every situation and leave out the rest – in my experience, fewer images are almost always better than more. On request, I can take on part of the editorial pre-selection.
Collaboration
How closely I work with the team depends on the assignment. On complex productions with planned shots, multiple trades and tight time slots, we stay in constant contact. At events and ongoing reportages it is often the other way round: my job is to draw as little attention as possible. I receive the necessary information in advance and work independently on site – because on that day, my contacts have better things to do.
I have worked for companies, agencies and editorial teams since 2008 – some clients I have accompanied from the very beginning, others for more than ten years. Individual assignments have often grown into long-term visual partnerships. Based in Mannheim, I work across Germany, regularly in Heidelberg, Frankfurt and Stuttgart.
